Hate Crew DeathrollChildren Of Bodom - Hate Crew Deathroll
Country: Finland      Genre: Death Metal, Thrash/Speed Metal

Children Of Bodom began their career ten years ago, but it wasn't until frontman Alexi Laiho joined Thy Serpent and their vocalist Sami Tenetz gave a copy of Children Of Bodom's debut to their label, Spinefarm Records, that the band landed a deal for Something Wild. The debut (along with successive albums Hatebreeder and Follow the Reaper) were licensed to the rest of the world via Nuclear Blast.

During this time, Children Of Bodom becamse one of the most influential modern metal bands. Laiho and Alexander Kuoppala are shredders, playing fast-paced, technical thrash riffs with young keyboard wizard Janne Warman adding a competitive spirit. Through their last three albums, Children Of Bodom crossed over thrash, prog, death metal, and black metal (mainly due to Laiho's vocal rasp) audiences.

On Hate Crew Deathroll, the scythe-bearing reaper returns for a fourth time, but Children Of Bodom deliver a more modern, slower, sometimes groove-oriented disc. Similar to Arch Enemy's Wages of Sin, Hate Crew Deathroll was released in other territories more than six months ago. Now they've reached a licensing deal with Century Media for North America and are planning a tour here this fall.

"Needled 24/7" starts off the album on a high note--it's the best song Children Of Bodom have ever written--at least until you hear the next song, "Sixpounder," which somehow combines speed metal, groove, killer riffs, and melodic choruses, along with all the other Bodom trademarks. "Chokehold" is a modern thrash classic in the making.

This isn't so much a friendly band, as it is a catchier, sharper, and groovier album than we would normally expect. Nice improvement.

- Fucking awesome
- Children of Bodom is the best band in the fucking world!!! I fucking love it!!! It's the best!!!
- I previously enjoyed trance. I listened to Children of Bodom mid-last year and ever since I've been addicted. This new album is amazing!
- COB is metal perfection.
- I have intense respect for COB because they are an utterly unique band with a 100% original sound. And every album they are getting better...
- Another crappy album by a highly overrated band. Spend your money on something more original.
- Amazing
- Loved it. Can't wait to see 'em with Dimmu this weekend! What a kick-ass show it's gonna be!
- COB RULES
- Fucking Crushing Heavy!! Who needs originality when you have this???
- Their weakest release. A few good songs and a bunch of filler material.
- Its very good. I noticed a more emotional development like on "Angels Don't Kill," but I still remain strong that Follow the Reaper is best. BODOM DESTROYS ALL.
- CoB RULES
- Kinda' lost my interest in COB before this was released. Why? Dunno. But one thing I know - this kicks ass!
- I don't care what anyone says - COB is one of the best metal bands out there. No bull, no lies.
- At first I couldn't stand this CD. Now I like it, but it still blows if compared to any of their other CDs, AND the song names are freakin' horrible...LOOK AT THEM!!! "Chokehold (Cocked N' Loaded)," "Lil' Bloodred Riding Hood"...pathetic.
- Awesome on-going blast this is! Very powerful, very good!!! 9/10.
- Eh. I guess I liked this album. I tried to. But COB seemed to be mailing it in. You're better off with Reaper or Hatebreeder.
- It rocks.
- Alexi Laiho is a future guitar god!
- Great! This album you should listen to when you pumping iron.
- Dead-on review. Great album. Great band. Doesn't get nearly the critical respect they deserve, but fuck it. Their career makes about 10 'critically acclaimed' bands that nobody listens to.
