Neutrality for Defined Chaos Quinta Essentia - Neutrality for Defined Chaos
Country: USA      Genre: Black Metal, Progressive Metal

There is surprisingly little information about Quinta Essentia's background. From what I've researched, the band was formed less than two years ago and Neutrality for Defined Chaos is their debut release. What is shocking is what a killer album this metal band from Alabama has created. Not only that, but it's got professional packaging and some of the best artwork I've ever seen.

Deathgasm Records keeps finding the best melodic black metal bands. You can add Quinta Essentia to a list that includes bands such as Azure, Semargl, and Crimson Massacre. The trio of Jason Flippo (vocals, guitars, bass), Thom Mathews (guitars), and Lee Hurst (drums) know how to create intricate melodies to offset Quinta Essentia's black metal attack. They actually remind me of Arcturus on the progressive minded "Intuitive Path of Strength and Will," a song which also has an over the top guitar solo at the end. Speaking of shredding, the guitar solo on the atmospheric interlude "Conquered and Swept Away" is beautiful. I'm sure James Murphy was impressed when he mastered Neutrality for Defined Chaos.

I have a lot of respect for what Deathgasm is signing lately. It's a shame most black metal fans shun talented melodic bands like Quinta Essentia, in favor of necro solo projects.

- Beautifully technical and brutal all at the same time.. Surreal parts....captivating...so glad solos are coming back. Amazing, you gotta buy this for sure.
- Shredding solos, melodic, but without losing its darkness. Many vocal variations.
