Interview with guitarist Enrik Garcia
Spanish power metallers Dark Moor released three solid full length albums but then hit a state of turmoil. Their female vocalist, one guitarist, drummer, and keyboardist all split leaving guitarist Enrik Garcia and bassist Anan Kaddouri looking for new members. The band went for a change in gender with male vocalist Alfred Romero joining following the new album, Between Light and Darkness. Between Light and Darkness features four acoustic songs and four live songs. In the meantime the former members of Dark Moor have formed a new band called Dreamaker. Here is Dark Moor guitarist Enrik Garcia to clarify any confusion.
What is the purpose of releasing this e.p.?
We want that our fans can to listen other side of Dark Moor, so we record four acoustic songs for them. We rescue the bonus track of Korea and Japan too. It is an e.p. for collectors and true fans of Dark Moor but I canīt consider it just as an e.p., there are eight tracks, four new exclusive tracks and the bonus tracks which were included in the Korean and Japanese editions of our previous albums, I think most of the people will not have them.
It is a rather long e.p., actually the length of a full length, did you feel you wanted to give buyers their money's worth?
I donīt know the price in U.S.A. and America, in Europe the price is cheaper than a normal c.d. Maybe, the imports make the price more expensive but I only recorded it. I think this release is necessary to have the chance to all our fans to listen all stuff recorded by the band.
Who are the new members in the band?
We have a new singer, Alfred Romero. He is very, very good. I like very much his voice. I think he is the perfect singer for Dark Moor. We have a new guitar, his name is Jose Garrido, he also play in Arwen, I hope to have the new line-up in the next weeks, anyway, the new album will be recorded in August.
Why was there a need for some people to depart?
Anan and me knew where Dark Moor music will must go and the other members didnīt agree at all . We think that the sound of Dark Moor must evolve to more darkness (death, gothic, etc), more heavy and at the same more operistic. It is something new, that I canīt explain with words.
How do you feel about them continuing with a new band? Does this hurt Dark Moor in any way?
Me and Anan have recovered the illusion with the change. The new Dark Moor is a new project full of music and work. I think that the band will gain very much now. We have a lot of music to offer to our fans. Iīm sure our fans will accept the new members and they will understand that this change was absolutely necessary to have a good harmony in the band.
What does the future hold for Dark Moor?
We will record our next cd in August and it will be released in November, weīll releases a single in October. In December we will begin the tour, I hope we can play in America , in Mexico and U.S.A.
What direction do you want to take the band now?
I explained it above. The new c.d. is composed already, it is more dark and hard.
Why do you think Helloween is a great band?
Cause I think that they opened a new way in the heavy metal music for many bands, even for us.
Does having a family take your focus away from music to other things?
Our families support and help us very much. They know that our life is the music.
What do you do for entertainment and enjoyment?
I like read, rol played games, computer games and music.
In America, movies like Y Mama Tu Tambien and Amores Perros have been big hits, how did these movies do in your country? What type of movies do you like?
I donīt very much. I prefer movies like The Lord of The Rings, Matrix, The Cube, etc.
Final comments?
Greetings and thanks to all Dark Moor's fans in U.S.A., I hope see you very soon.
